Today in CBI group you talked about MAKING GOOD DECISIONS. This virtual CBI Session will give you a quick review of the 5 steps to making good decisions, and some additional tips for your toolbelt.
We all make lots of decisions every day. For example, we decide:
what to wear each morning
what to eat for each meal
what to do during the day
what to watch on TV
Some decisions that we make are more important than others, like:
what job to take
who to date
how to spend your money
In CBI, we are looking at HIGH STAKES DECISIONS - decisions that have long lasting consequences on our lives.
Have you ever made a “high stakes” decision that you regret? How did you go about making that decision? What do you wish you had done differently?
How about a time you made a “high stakes” decision that you are really proud of? How did you go about making that decision? Why did you make that decision?
It is very likely that the difference between how you made these decisions has to do with how much time you spent THINKING about your OPTIONS and possible CONSEQUENCES. That is the KEY to making good decisions - spending time really thinking about it, rather than just acting on your first feeling or impulse.
Below is a tool to guide you through the process of making a big decision. Read through each step, and think about whether or not you do these things now when you are making decisions.
