This week in CBI you got an introduction to what CBI is all about, which can be summed up by the following:
Meditation is like strength training for your brain – specifically, the parts of your brain that you use to calm yourself down, think before you act, and make wise decisions. The more you practice meditation, the stronger your brain gets.
BUT, just like starting anything new, meditation can feel hard at first! Most of our brains aren’t used to clearing our minds and focusing. Instead, our brains are used to thinking lots of thoughts. So when you are meditating, don’t be surprised if random thoughts start to show up. Just keep refocusing your attention on your breath, which is like your anchor – the thing that keeps you in the present.
Below is a video that will guide you through a 5 minute meditation. Before you begin, find somewhere quiet without too many distractions. Sit or lay in a comfortable position. You can close your eyes or keep them open - whatever feels most comfortable for you. When you feel ready, press play below to begin the meditation.
